UK Shared Prosperity Fund
We are very grateful to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for their generous support in extending our Herefordshire Wildlife Trail and improving signage throughout the Gardens. These upgrades have already enhanced the visitor experience by connecting our community with the estate’s unique wildlife and historical significance.
Our new Hereford Bull carving pays homage to the estate’s rich history. The Hereford Cattle Society was founded in 1878 by Mr. J. H. Arkwright of Hampton Court Estate, under the patronage of Queen Victoria. This society helped the iconic breed gain world renown, helping to put Herefordshire on the map. Another new carving celebrates the heritage varieties of fruit still grown in our kitchen gardens today. Additionally, we’ve added heron and kingfisher carvings, representing birds that can regularly be spotted along the River Lugg, which runs through the estate.
These new features, along with our improved signage, will be further integrated into the garden experience over the coming seasons. The signage is designed to be adaptable and sustainable, in line with our commitment to preserving the natural and historical heritage of the estate.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
